Welcome to the online headquarters for Black Students United, Cornell's umbrella organization for black student groups. Please use this website as a way to find out what's going on with Black Students United as well as the rest of the black community on this campus. We update this site regularly so we appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Mission
BLACK STUDENTS UNITED is an organization that promotes the academic, social, cultural and political empowerment of members of the African, African American, Afro-Caribbean peoples as well as all other peoples of African descent at Cornell.

This organization was established as a comprehensive alliance with a focus on resource organization, mobilization and implementation. It provides a network and venue for the members of the African Diaspora to express their needs and have those needs met. BSU is committed to promoting African-centered thought, establishing a balance between academia and activism, and developing community-centered leadership. It is committed to pan-African unity across lines of ethnicity, culture, socio-economic class, gender and sexual orientation.

Primary Goals and Responsibilities
-    BSU is responsible for creating and developing a   
      stronger cultural community amongst all people of
      African descent on Cornell’s campus
-    BSU acts as an advocate for the needs of the
      Africana Community. BSU is to be a strong and
      influential campus-wide voice of action within this 
      community.
-    BSU is dedicated to constant and productive
      communication with and within the black
      community
-    BSU bridges the gaps between black students,
      members of the administration and other student
      groups
-    BSU is committed to serving as the unifying body of
      black political, cultural, social and academic
      organizations on campus
-    BSU is committed to assisting in the recruitment
      and matriculation of students of African descent
